Internet Acceptable Use Policy

Acceptable Use Policy for the OPLIN Terminals

As part of the commitment of the Auglaize County Public District Library (ACPDL) to meet the informational, educational, recreational and business needs of the communities served by the district, ACPDL offers the Internet as provided by the Ohio Public Library Information Network (OPLIN).

It is understood by all users of OPLIN and the Internet that most of the information available is not generated by ACPDL or OPLIN. The Library through OPLIN provides access to reference databases of general and special periodical materials, readers' advisory services, homework centers to assist student with research assignments, and legislative, historical, and archival materials and information.

Information available through OPLIN and the Internet is not warranted by the ACPDL or OPLIN to be accurate, authoritative, factual, or complete. The availability of networked information through a terminal in any building in the ACPDL system does not constitute any endorsement or validation of that information. The ACPDL and OPLIN is not responsible for the content of the information available. The use of OPLIN and the Internet to engage in any activity which constitutes violation of local, state, and/or federal laws is strictly prohibited. The library's OPLIN computer may not be used for "for-profit" activities. Individuals are responsible for their own choices. Parents and guardians are responsible for the choices of their own minor children. All minors must have a parent or guardian read and agree to the acceptable use policy and give authorization for the juvenile to be able to use the Internet.

All users of this service agree to hold the ACPDL and OPLIN harmless from any and all claims, losses, damages, obligations or liabilities directly or indirectly relating to the use of OPLIN and the Internet, caused thereby or arising therefrom. In no event shall the ACPDL or OPLIN have any liability for lost profits or for indirect, special, punitive or consequential damages or any liability to any third party, even if the ACPDL or OPLIN is advised of the possibility of such damages.
